On May 13, the largest exhibition in the Caspian region dedicated to agriculture and the food industry — the 18th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition Caspian Agro — opened at the Baku Expo Center.

At the same time, the 30th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition InterFood Azerbaijan also opened at the expo center.
Both exhibitions, which have become national brands, are held with the organizational support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The importance of these exhibitions for the country is underlined by the President’s visits to the events. For many years, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has visited the Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan exhibitions, exploring the exhibition pavilions and engaging with participants at the Baku Expo Center.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan exhibitions, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elchin Zeynalov, emphasized that these exhibitions have for many years served as the largest platform showcasing innovative solutions and new technologies from both domestic and international companies in the fields of agriculture and food industry. He noted that the exhibitions significantly contribute to professional exchange of views on sector development and foster business cooperation. The organization of key business events within the exhibitions, including the 2nd International Forum on Agrarian Innovations, highlights the growing importance of such platforms. The forum offers participants an excellent opportunity to discuss the pressing issues facing the industry.

Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Goshgar Tahmazli, stressed the importance of ensuring food security. He noted that serious measures are being implemented across the country to ensure the safety of livestock and crop production. Events such as Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan play an important role in supporting the development of agriculture and the food industry, creating new business opportunities and strengthening trade ties.

Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Orkhan Mammadov, focused on the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the agricultural and food sectors. He highlighted that KOBİA actively supports these businesses across the country. “We always support exhibitions that can contribute to the growth of SMEs,” he stated, noting the participation of nine local companies in the food production sector. He added that agriculture and the food industry are among the leading non-oil sectors and play a vital role in the socioeconomic development of both the regions and the country as a whole.

Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), Yusif Abdullayev, emphasized the importance of such exhibitions for the agency, which specializes in the promotion and development of non-oil industries. He noted that these events not only present traditional Azerbaijani agricultural products but also showcase the latest achievements and ideas, serving as a strong stimulus for further development and expansion of business relations. AZPROMO actively promotes Azerbaijani agricultural and food products at numerous exhibitions worldwide, and goods under the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand are now well known in many countries. This exhibition also marks the first time that several of the agency’s international partner-importers are participating.

President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mammad Musayev, underlined the growing presence of locally produced agricultural and food products in the domestic market and their active export abroad. He stated that Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan have for many years played an essential role in the development of Azerbaijani companies by offering access to global best practices and fostering valuable business contacts.

The representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Azerbaijan, Muhammad Nasar Hayat, reiterated FAO’s role as a partner to all stakeholders in the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan.
