Dear participants of the exhibition!

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to the Azerbaijan International Agriculture and Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibitions.

These exhibitions, which are the 17th and 29th in number, coincide with a very significant year. This year, our country is set to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, declared 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year," and this year's exhibition allocates more space for showcasing modern agricultural production tools grounded in principles of environmental protection, green energy, efficient resource utilization, and organic production. The agrarian reforms underway in our country are bolstering the development of agriculture, with the state implementing significant support measures for this purpose. Additionally, efforts are made to ensure farmers' access to agricultural tools, while expanding the scope of agricultural insurance.

The rapid progress of agriculture hinges directly on the adoption of innovations within the sector. It is particularly crucial for our farmers, who constitute the primary driving force behind agricultural advancements, to stay informed about innovative agricultural equipment, precision farming systems, new production tools, and energy and resource-saving technologies. In this context, "Caspian Agro," recognized as the largest international exhibition in the region's agricultural domain, offers an invaluable opportunity for agricultural professionals to acquaint themselves with emerging techniques, technologies, and systems, as it does every year. Furthermore, the exhibition serves as a pivotal platform for the exchange of ideas and the establishment of partnerships among experts and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, including representatives from abroad.

The advancement of agriculture relies not only on the application of techniques and technologies but also on taking proactive measures to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. As the Ministry of Agriculture, we are spearheading initiatives aimed at minimizing the impacts of climate change and evaluating climate risks in the organization of our activities. I am confident that the discussions facilitated in this regard during the exhibition will lay the groundwork for the sustainable development of agriculture.

In our country, the state actively promotes the adoption of innovations across all sectors and encourages the widespread utilization of innovative techniques. Significant measures are being taken to implement modern solutions. I am confident that our farmers will fully capitalize on the opportunities provided by the exhibition and play a pivotal role in fostering the sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan by extensively employing innovative agricultural techniques, modern irrigation systems, precision agricultural solutions, and appropriate agrotechnical maintenance tools. I extend my greetings once again to all participants of the exhibitions and encourage them to make the utmost use of the opportunities presented by these events for the further advancement of the agricultural sector.

Ladies and gentlemen, dear participants of the event!

On behalf of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I extend deep respect and honor to the participants and esteemed guests of the 29th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition InterFood Azerbaijan 2024 and the 17th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition Caspian Agro.

As a consequence of the socio-economic reforms established by Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, and carried out by President Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the requirements of the global economy and contemporary challenges, the food industry and food safety are experiencing growth in our nation along with other sectors. It is no coincidence that the establishment of the food safety system in compliance with international requirements and the introduction of new innovative solutions in the food industry have led to major achievements in this field.

In the context of the measures implemented, the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has made significant progress towards supplying the nation's population with high-quality, safe food products, enhancing the effectiveness and transparency of the food safety system, and bringing it into compliance with international standards.

I would like to mention that within the State Program for ensuring food safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan for the years 2019-2025 approved by the head of the state, 71 measures in 12 priority areas for developing a system in the food safety field, animal and plant health have been determined for 7 years. A significant portion of these tasks has already been completed. Active efforts are underway to implement further measures.

Moreover, the Law On Food Safety, signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which came into effect on January 1, 2023, helps prevent potential hazards to the residents’ lives and health by bolstering the legal foundation for the nation’s food safety system. Additionally, in keeping with the state's political line, the aforementioned Law serves to continue the assistance given to entrepreneurs.

Currently, the AQTA is conducting the registration and authorization procedure for international food facilities importing food products into our country in accordance with the provisions of the Law On Food Safety. A number of enterprises of this category have been approved, and efforts are ongoing to approve the others. Also, the Agency takes measures to ensure the establishment of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system in food facilities in compliance with the Law On Food Safety.

The Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute under the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan is also taking necessary measures to ensure food safety in our country. Consequently, 17 laboratories that specialize in food safety, complex research, plant and animal health operate under the Institute to assure food safety and safeguard the nation's public health. Tests of the safety and quality indices of different food products are conducted in these laboratories. The Scientific Research Centre of the Institute is performing scientific research of laboratory analyses, organizing scientific and theoretical trainings for entrepreneurs, conducting propaganda and promotion campaigns in an effort to inform the public about food safety, carrying out animal identification work, and implementing other activities.

I believe that this international event, which will feature participants from all points along the food chain, will do a great deal to showcase goods and services of the food sector as well as to build and expand new business connections.

Using this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to the organisers and participants of the 29th InterFood Azerbaijan and the 17th Caspian Agro, and wish them success in their business endeavors.

The agriculture and food industry stand as pivotal sectors within the non-oil sector, serving as primary guarantors of food security, in addition to being a leading field for SME activity. KOBIA consistently lends its support to SMEs engaged in these domains through a range of services and mechanisms. It's heartening to note the significant turnout of SMEs at this year's exhibitions.

The substantial economic potential of our liberated lands, coupled with their fertile soil for agriculture, heralds fresh opportunities for both the agricultural sector and the food industry. Harnessing this potential through public-private sector partnership promises a positive trajectory for the development of agriculture, food production, and the broader economy in the forthcoming years. The declaration of 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year" in our nation, alongside the hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29 in Azerbaijan, underscores the expanding embrace of the "green concept," a predominant global trend. These initiatives are poised to catalyze efforts in the relevant domain within our country.

We firmly believe that hosting the "Caspian Agro" and "InterFood Azerbaijan" exhibitions will prove beneficial for sector representatives and will significantly contribute to the advancement of the industry, particularly in an era where modern challenges such as the "green economy" and digital agriculture are gaining increasing relevance.

The traditional “Caspian Agro” and “Interfood Azerbaijan” exhibitionS, held today in connection with the development of agriculture, which is one of the main sectors of the economy, increase the interest of countries from all over the world in the agricultural industry of Azerbaijan, as well as opens up opportunities for attracting investments in the production of biologically clean products, especially in our liberated from occupation territories.

As a result of the successful policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the share of the agrarian sector in the non-oil exports of our country is increasing day by day and the application of modern technologies in our enterprises operating in this area has become widespread.

In addition to having a special share in the employment of the population, agriculture is also strategic for ensuring food security in the current global conditions. The establishment of a food and value chain within the country, followed by the construction of an export infrastructure, is a very important issue.

I am confident that “Caspian Agro” and "Interfood Azerbaijan" will become a favorable platform for food industry professionals this year again. Opportunities to attract new technologies, establish business contacts, meetings and discussions with relevant government agencies, exchange of experience with foreign experts will play an important role in increasing the competitiveness of agricultural and food industry products in Azerbaijan and promoting investments.

Amidst shortages and escalating price fluctuations in the global food industry, one of the primary avenues of action outlined in the "Social and Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026," derived from "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development," is the advancement of sustainable and competitive agriculture and agribusiness. The "InterFood Azerbaijan" and "Caspian Agro" exhibitions create new opportunities to enhance the potential of horticulture, animal husbandry, agriculture, and the food industry in our liberated lands and the region, which can contribute to the global food security agenda. The exhibitions allow businesspeople and investors to acquaint themselves with domestic and foreign technologies and equipment showcased therein, facilitating comparisons with other offerings and enabling the implementation of the most suitable options within their enterprises.

We firmly believe that the 29th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition "InterFood Azerbaijan 2024" and the 17th Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition "Caspian Agro" will establish an effective business platform and foster a conducive working environment for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and technologies.
