It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 18th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition and the 30th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition. 

For many years, Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan, which celebrates its anniversary this year, have served as key platforms for local and international companies to showcase innovative solutions and new technologies in agriculture and the food industry. 

This exhibition creates opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals to exchange ideas on current issues in agriculture and the food industry, establish business connections, and discover modern innovations. 

In recent years, our country has implemented large-scale reforms aimed at the development of agriculture, strengthened state support mechanisms, and facilitated farmers’ access to technology and financial resources. Conditions have been created to acquaint our farmers with modern agricultural machinery, precision farming systems, digital management tools, and environmentally friendly production technologies. 

This year, particular emphasis is placed on new solutions based on artificial intelligence, automated technologies built on smart management systems, energy- and resource-saving technologies, equipment using alternative energy sources, climate-resilient agricultural products, and sustainable farming solutions. 

We are implementing innovative approaches to reduce the impacts of climate change, ensure more efficient use of land and water resources, and make agriculture more ecological and productive. 

Key targets also include the wider application of digital solutions, expansion of electronic agriculture platforms, and increased accessibility to financial and insurance tools for entrepreneurs operating in the agricultural sector. We believe that the introduction of new plant varieties, productive livestock breeds, modern technology-based farming models, and the automation of production processes will positively contribute to the development of the agricultural sector. 

Among the highlights of this year’s exhibition are the participation of the fisheries and aquaculture sector and the hosting of the 2nd International Agrarian Innovation Forum. The Caspian Agro exhibition is an important platform for showcasing innovative solutions and advanced technologies that will support the development of the fisheries and aquaculture industry. At the same time, the forum will offer new opportunities for farmers and agribusiness representatives, enabling knowledge and experience exchange. 

I hope the exhibition will be beneficial to everyone working in the agricultural field, enhance their expertise, and expand their business opportunities.

On behalf of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I extend my sincere greetings and deep respect to all participants and distinguished guests of the 30th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition “InterFood Azerbaijan” and the 18th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition “Caspian Agro.” 

At a time when the world is facing global climate change and economic-political challenges, Azerbaijan continues to implement large-scale and forward-looking initiatives. The development of agriculture and the food industry creates favorable conditions for expanding economic and trade relations, and for opening new opportunities in both domestic and international markets. 

I would like to emphasize that within the framework of the "State Program on Ensuring Food Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019–2025," the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been implementing consistent and purposeful measures aimed at managing relevant risks to human, animal, and plant health, as well as ensuring biosafety. 

The Agency has initiated amendments to the existing legislative acts in the field of food safety and developed seven new normative legal documents which have already been approved. A draft law on "Plant Health" has been prepared and submitted to the relevant state bodies for feedback and is currently undergoing broad public discussions with the participation of stakeholders. Additionally, to align the current legislation in the field of animal health with international standards, and taking into account recommendations from international experts, a draft law on "Animal Health" has been prepared. 

To ensure effective food safety control during import and export operations, the newly established Red Bridge Food Safety Control Point near the border checkpoint with Georgia in the Gazakh region has been fully equipped and has commenced operations. 

The consistent efforts to ensure biosafety in the country, the achievement of disease-free status for certain animal diseases, and the development of international cooperation and partnerships have created a favorable environment for increasing the export potential of various food products produced in Azerbaijan. 

As a result, poultry products have been exported to several countries, including the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. Furthermore, for the first time, table eggs have been exported to the United States. The Agency has also ensured the continuation of permits for the export of caviar products, derived from aquaculture-raised sturgeon species, to European Union countries. 

Within the framework of the "First State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan," approved by the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, measures in the field of food safety are being successfully implemented. In line with the requirements of the World Organisation for Animal Health, epizootic monitoring and other necessary measures have been carried out on farms in the territories liberated from occupation, as part of efforts to establish a disease-free zone.

I am confident that this international event, which brings together all stakeholders operating across the food supply chain, will provide an excellent platform for showcasing products and services, as well as for establishing and expanding business relations.

Agriculture and the food industry, as priority areas of the non-oil sector, are also sectors in which SMEs are most active. Azerbaijan’s favorable business and investment climate and the existing support mechanisms for entrepreneurship stimulate the establishment and development of businesses in these sectors. Furthermore, the great economic potential and fertile land resources of the liberated territories of our country offer new opportunities for the agrarian sector and food industry. It is gratifying to see that a variety of products manufactured in these liberated areas are already being showcased at specialized exhibitions both in Azerbaijan and abroad. Within its mandate, KOBİA promotes the establishment and expansion of businesses in the agro and food sectors. Entrepreneurs and potential businesspeople operating in these areas can also benefit from various support tools and services provided by the Agency to develop their businesses. 

What makes these exhibitions especially important for KOBİA is the strong presence of local SMEs, which is crucial in terms of enhancing their visibility, expanding sales opportunities, and developing business relations. As an Agency, we have been supporting the participation of SMEs in the “Caspian Agro” and “InterFood Azerbaijan” exhibitions for several years. This year, we are once again pleased to support the participation of SMEs in these exhibitions.

Our country has considerable experience in this area, and this year we will continue to strengthen ties between foreign and local business representatives. 

I would like to note that at last year's “InterFood Azerbaijan” exhibition, 218 companies from 22 countries participated, while the “Caspian Agro” exhibition brought together 285 companies from 27 countries. This once again confirms the importance of these exhibitions and their significant role as platforms for business cooperation. 

I am confident that this year’s exhibitions will also be remembered for productive partnerships, new business connections, and interesting initiatives.

Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, hundreds of modern agro-parks, industrial enterprises, and new production facilities have been established across the country. The share of local products in meeting domestic demand has significantly increased, and export opportunities have expanded. As a result, the share and range of non-oil products in Azerbaijan’s exports are growing year by year. 

The Caspian Agro exhibition, which has already become a tradition in our country, increases international interest in Azerbaijan's agriculture and agribusiness sector. It also creates new opportunities for attracting investment in the production of environmentally friendly products, particularly in the territories liberated from occupation. 

I am confident that Caspian Agro and InterFood Azerbaijan will once again serve as valuable platforms for food industry professionals, rich in innovation and opportunities. This year’s exhibition is particularly special. Just a few months ago, Baku hosted COP29, where global leaders came together to tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time—climate change. The conversations we had and the commitments we made at COP29 will shape the future of agriculture, not just in Azerbaijan but around the world. Today, as we gather here, we carry that momentum forward. Sustainable food systems, water management, and climate-resilient agriculture are no longer aspirations—they are necessities. 

2025 also marks a milestone for FAO—80 years of working to fight hunger, improve food security, and promote sustainable agriculture. This anniversary is more than a celebration; it is a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and to renew our commitment to a future where everyone has access to safe and nutritious food. This means supporting small farmers, ensuring fair access to resources, promoting innovation, and making sure no one is left behind. 

In Azerbaijan, FAO’s partnership with the government has grown into a strong and meaningful collaboration. Together, we’ve introduced more efficient irrigation systems, supported the development of cooperatives, and provided training programs that empower farmers with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive. These projects are not just about increasing production; they are about improving lives, strengthening communities, and ensuring a healthier planet for future generations. 

Agriculture is at the heart of Azerbaijan’s economy and identity. As the sector evolves, FAO remains committed to supporting innovation, digital transformation, and policy development to ensure a more resilient and sustainable future. But we know that no organization can do this alone. The transformation of agri-food systems depends on all of us—governments, international partners, the private sector, and most importantly, the farmers themselves. 

As we celebrate Azerbaijan’s achievements in agriculture and build on the success of COP29, I want to thank each of you for the work you do. This exhibition is more than a showcase of progress—it is a space for collaboration, inspiration, and new opportunities.
